Knee osteoarthritis, tendinitis, bursitis, and post-surgical pain — non-surgical care that keeps you moving.
Knee pain is one of the most common reasons patients seek integrative care — and one of the most disruptive to daily life. Whether you're struggling with osteoarthritis that makes every step painful, tendinitis from years of sport or physical work, bursitis, or lingering pain after knee surgery, AcuMed Clinic offers evidence-based, non-surgical treatment that reduces pain and improves function without relying on cortisone injections or joint replacement.

Knee osteoarthritis is the most common cause of knee pain in adults over 50, affecting Sarasota's large active-senior population significantly. As cartilage wears down, bones make direct contact, causing inflammation, stiffness, swelling, and pain that worsens with activity and improves with rest — until eventually the pain becomes constant.
Acupuncture is one of the most studied non-pharmacological treatments for knee osteoarthritis. Multiple large randomized controlled trials have shown acupuncture to produce clinically significant reductions in pain and functional improvement compared to both sham and usual care. AcuMed Clinic combines acupuncture with BEMER microcirculation therapy and, where appropriate, trigger point injection therapy to address the joint environment at multiple levels simultaneously.
Patellar tendinitis, IT band syndrome, and runner's knee are overuse injuries driven by repetitive loading, muscle imbalances, and inadequate recovery. Conventional treatment focuses on rest and anti-inflammatory medication — approaches that interrupt training and provide only temporary relief. AcuMed Clinic's approach targets the actual tissue pathology through laser ultrasound therapy, trigger point work, and acupuncture, accelerating tendon healing and addressing the biomechanical contributors to injury.
Knee bursitis — inflammation of the small fluid sacs cushioning the knee joint — responds particularly well to trigger point injection therapy, which delivers anti-inflammatory compounds directly to the affected bursa. Combined with acupuncture and therapeutic ultrasound, this approach reduces bursitis significantly faster than rest alone.
For patients who have undergone knee replacement, ACL reconstruction, or meniscus repair and are experiencing persistent pain or stiffness in recovery, AcuMed Clinic offers integrative rehabilitation support. Acupuncture reduces post-surgical inflammation, relieves muscle guarding, and accelerates tissue repair. BEMER therapy improves microcirculation to support faster cellular healing. Laser therapy addresses superficial and deep tissue concurrently.
