AcuMed Clinic · Sarasota, FL
Evidence-informed, drug-free care to help reduce migraine frequency and nervous system irritation.
Migraines are more than bad headaches. They are a neurological condition that can cause throbbing head pain, nausea, vomiting, light sensitivity, sound sensitivity, visual aura, fatigue, and days of disrupted function. At AcuMed Clinic in Sarasota, we provide evidence-informed, drug-free, non-surgical care for patients struggling with migraine headaches, chronic headaches, neck-related headache patterns, and recurring pain that interferes with work, sleep, family, and quality of life. Our goal is not to chase symptoms visit by visit — our goal is to understand your migraine pattern, reduce nervous system irritation, address contributing muscle tension, and help you get back to doing what you love.

Migraine triggers vary, but many patients report patterns involving stress or nervous system overload, poor sleep, dehydration, skipped meals, hormonal changes, bright light or screen exposure, weather changes, alcohol, neck, jaw, or shoulder tension, and certain foods or food additives.
The mistake is assuming one trigger explains everything. For many patients, migraines happen when multiple stressors stack up until the nervous system crosses a threshold.
Acupuncture may be a valuable option for some people with migraines. Cochrane's review found that a course of at least six acupuncture treatments can be a useful option for migraine prevention. At AcuMed, acupuncture for migraines may focus on nervous system regulation, head, neck, jaw, and shoulder tension, pain modulation, stress response, sleep support, circulation and muscle relaxation, and reducing sensitivity patterns over time.
We do not promise a migraine cure. Migraine is a complex neurological condition. But for the right patient, acupuncture can be part of a serious, structured migraine treatment plan.
Migraine care should not be generic. We start by understanding your migraine history, symptom pattern, triggers, medications, medical history, and functional limitations. Individual acupuncture sessions are tailored to your migraine pattern, pain location, and neck and shoulder involvement.
Many migraine patients also have muscle tension that may worsen headache patterns. Depending on your needs, care may include acupuncture, trigger point-focused work, massage therapy, auricular therapy, or other supportive modalities. The goal is fewer bad days, better function, and less disruption — not just temporary relief after a migraine has already taken over.
Seek urgent medical care if you experience sudden severe headache, weakness, confusion, vision loss, fainting, fever, head injury, or a headache that feels completely different from your usual migraine pattern.
You should also speak with a medical provider if migraines are increasing, lasting longer, requiring frequent medication, or interfering significantly with daily life.
