AcuMed Clinic · Sarasota, FL
Conservative, drug-free care for tendon-related knee pain, stair pain, and overuse injuries.
Knee tendinitis can make stairs, squatting, walking, exercise, kneeling, pickleball, golf, and daily activity more uncomfortable. It often causes pain near the kneecap, just below the knee, above the kneecap, or along the tendon structures that help the knee bend, straighten, and absorb load. At AcuMed Clinic - Pain & Chronic Care in Sarasota, FL, we approach knee tendinitis as part of the larger hip, knee, ankle, and gait system. Tendon pain is often related to load, movement mechanics, muscle tension, activity changes, recovery, and sensitivity around the tendon.

Tendons connect muscles to bones. Around the knee, tendons help transfer force from the thigh and lower leg muscles so the knee can straighten, bend, climb stairs, and absorb impact. When load changes too quickly or surrounding mechanics are not supporting the knee well, tendons can become irritated. A care plan may consider tendon sensitivity, activity load and recovery, quadriceps and hamstring tension, hip and ankle mechanics, walking or stair patterns, trigger point sensitivity, pain regulation, and gradual return to activity.
Tendon pain often requires a balanced approach. Too much rest may reduce capacity, while too much activity may keep the tendon irritated. AcuMed supports conservative care that respects symptoms and function.
Medical Acupuncture may be used as part of a conservative care plan for knee tendinitis-related pain and muscle guarding. Treatment is individualized based on pain location, activity triggers, walking tolerance, and related hip, thigh, or calf tension. For knee tendinitis, acupuncture may help support pain modulation, muscle relaxation, circulation, nervous system regulation, reduced guarding around the thigh and knee, comfort with walking and stairs, and sleep and stress support when pain is persistent.
Acupuncture does not instantly repair tendons or guarantee elimination of tendon pain. For appropriate patients, it may help reduce symptom burden and support participation in a broader recovery plan.
