AcuMed Clinic · Sarasota, FL
Conservative support for post-surgical hip pain, stiffness, and recovery.
Hip replacement surgery can be life-changing for many patients, especially when arthritis or joint damage has made walking, stairs, sleep, and daily movement difficult. But recovery is not always simple. Some patients continue to experience soreness, stiffness, soft-tissue tightness, scar sensitivity, gait changes, low back compensation, or hip-region discomfort after surgery. At AcuMed Clinic - Pain & Chronic Care in Sarasota, FL, we provide conservative support for appropriate patients with post-hip replacement pain. Our role is not to replace your surgeon, physical therapist, or post-operative instructions. Instead, AcuMed may support comfort, nervous system regulation, muscle relaxation, soft-tissue mobility, and whole-person recovery when care is medically appropriate.

Hip replacement surgery changes the joint structure, but the body still needs time to heal, adapt, and relearn movement. Muscles may guard around the hip. The pelvis and low back may compensate. The opposite hip or knee may absorb more load. Scar tissue may feel sensitive. Walking patterns may take time to normalize.
Persistent discomfort may involve healing tissues, scar sensitivity, hip flexor and gluteal tightness, low back and pelvic compensation, altered gait mechanics, nervous system sensitivity, and sleep and stress response. A supportive care plan may help address soft-tissue and nervous system contributors while keeping the surgeon's guidance central.
Medical Acupuncture may be used as supportive care for selected patients with post-hip replacement pain when medically appropriate and consistent with the recovery plan. For post-surgical hip symptoms, acupuncture may help support pain modulation, nervous system regulation, muscle relaxation, sleep quality, reduced protective guarding, comfort with rehabilitation, and stress response during recovery.
Acupuncture does not replace surgical follow-up, wound care, physical therapy, or post-operative precautions. For appropriate patients, it may support comfort and whole-person recovery as part of a coordinated care plan.
