About Dr. Kitt

Research scientist.
Healing practitioner.

Dr. Katrina “Kitt” Chojnicki-Hill, DAOM, AP — founder of AcuMed Clinic.

Dr. Katrina Kitt Chojnicki-Hill, DAOM, AP — Founder of AcuMed Clinic

Dr. Kitt brings something rare to integrative medicine: the analytical rigor of a research scientist combined with deep clinical expertise in acupuncture and Oriental Medicine. Before dedicating her career to natural healing, she spent more than 20 years in aerospace and defense research and development — work that demanded precision, evidence, and accountability at every step.

That background shapes everything about how she practices. Dr. Kitt doesn’t guess — she diagnoses. She doesn’t follow scripts — she individualizes. And she doesn’t stop when conventional medicine runs out of answers. Many of her patients come to her after being told there is nothing more that can be done. She considers that her specialty.

She holds a Doctorate of Acupuncture and Oriental Medicine (DAOM) from Five Branches University — a rigorous two-year earned academic doctoral degree. It is worth understanding what that means in context: in some states, acupuncturists may use the title “Doctor” or carry the “DOM” (Doctor of Oriental Medicine) designation as a professional title — one that does not require or confer a doctoral degree. Dr. Kitt’s DAOM is an actual earned doctorate, awarded after two years of advanced clinical and research training at one of the top acupuncture universities in the country.

She also holds the Diplomat of Oriental Medicine (Dipl. OM) designation from NCCAOM, the national credentialing body now known as NCBAHM. Earning this requires passing all four national boards: Acupuncture with Point Location, Foundations of Oriental Medicine, Biomedicine, and Chinese Herbology. Most acupuncture physicians are not board-certified at all; of those who are, most hold certification in fewer than all four disciplines. That breadth of verified, nationally-examined competency is reflected in every aspect of her clinical approach. Her undergraduate degrees in Mathematics and Mechanical Engineering from the University of Central Florida form the quantitative foundation beneath her clinical work.

AcuMed Clinic is the culmination of years of clinical practice, a deep understanding of Sarasota’s local healthcare needs, and a commitment to building a practice that serves the year-round community — not seasonal visitors — with insurance-covered, evidence-based integrative care.

“One size does not fit all — and safe, natural, effective care should be accessible to everyone in our community.”

— Dr. Katrina “Kitt” Chojnicki-Hill, DAOM, AP, Dipl. OM

Academic & Research Partnerships

Dr. Kitt is actively pursuing academic research partnerships with Five Branches University. A federal randomized controlled trial on acupuncture for chronic pain in Original Medicare beneficiaries is planned for 2028 — a 3-year study that will position AcuMed Clinic at the forefront of integrative medicine research in the United States.
