AcuMed Clinic · Sarasota, FL
Conservative support for post-surgical knee pain, stiffness, and recovery.
Knee replacement surgery can be an important step for patients with severe arthritis or joint damage, but recovery is not always straightforward. Some patients continue to experience pain, stiffness, swelling, scar sensitivity, muscle guarding, walking discomfort, or difficulty with stairs after surgery. At AcuMed Clinic - Pain & Chronic Care in Sarasota, FL, we provide conservative support for appropriate patients with post-knee replacement pain. Our role is not to replace your surgeon, physical therapist, imaging, post-operative instructions, or medical follow-up. Instead, AcuMed may support comfort, nervous system regulation, soft-tissue mobility, muscle relaxation, and whole-person recovery when care is medically appropriate.

Knee replacement surgery changes the joint structure, but the body still needs time to heal, adapt, and relearn movement. Muscles may guard around the knee. The hip, ankle, and low back may compensate. Scar tissue may feel sensitive. Walking and stair mechanics may take time to normalize.
Persistent discomfort may involve healing tissues, scar sensitivity, quadriceps and hamstring guarding, hip and ankle compensation, altered gait mechanics, nervous system sensitivity, sleep and stress response, and gradual return to activity. A supportive care plan may help address these contributors while keeping the surgeon's guidance central.
Medical Acupuncture may be used as supportive care for selected patients with post-knee replacement pain when medically appropriate and consistent with the recovery plan. For post-surgical knee symptoms, acupuncture may help support pain modulation, nervous system regulation, muscle relaxation, sleep quality, reduced protective guarding, comfort with rehabilitation, and stress response during recovery.
Acupuncture does not replace surgical follow-up, wound care, physical therapy, or post-operative precautions. For appropriate patients, it may support comfort and whole-person recovery as part of a coordinated care plan.
AcuMed Clinic accepts BCBS, UnitedHealthcare, and VA Community Care. Medicare enrollment is in progress. Coverage for post-knee replacement pain support depends on your insurance plan, diagnosis, medical necessity, provider network, timing after surgery, and specific services provided. AcuMed can help review available benefits before your first visit.
Contact your surgeon or seek prompt medical care if you experience fever, wound redness or drainage, sudden swelling, new severe pain, inability to bear weight, calf pain, shortness of breath, or any symptom your surgical team warned you about.
