AHM Properties
Spring onion (Cong Bai) releases the exterior, scatters cold, lifts Yang, and opens blocked channels. The white root section appears in classical AHM formulas for addressing wind-cold in its early stages. As a daily food it warms the Stomach, moves food stagnation, and delivers a pungent Qi-moving quality throughout the body — making it one of the most broadly useful warming foods in everyday cooking.
Spring onions provide quercetin and allicin with anti-inflammatory activity similar to other allium vegetables, consistent with their AHM role as a pungent, warming food that releases the Exterior and dispels cold.
Contraindications
Avoid in heat patterns, sweating disorders, or Yin deficiency. Not recommended with honey (classical contraindication).
