Quick Facts
AHM Properties
Spinach builds Liver Blood and Yin, brings moisture to a dry intestinal tract, encourages urination, and cools heat in the Blood. It stands out as one of the most Blood-nourishing leafy greens in AHM, making it especially well suited for Liver Blood deficiency presenting as dry eyes, blurred vision, anemia, or constipation from intestinal dryness. Its rich, deep green color reflects a strong natural affinity for the Liver.
Spinach contains kaempferol, quercetin, and beta-carotene with well-documented anti-inflammatory properties that support its AHM role in nourishing Blood, cooling Heat, and moistening intestinal dryness.
Contraindications
Avoid large amounts with kidney stones (high oxalate). Blanch first to reduce oxalic acid. Avoid excess in Cold constitutions.
