AHM Properties

Plum produces fluids, dispels heat from the Liver, supports urination, and strengthens the Stomach. Its sour taste has a strong affinity for the Liver, making this one of the most direct fruits for supporting that organ system. In dried form, plum ranks among the most reliable foods for addressing constipation that stems from dryness in the intestines. Pickled plum — Hua Mei — has long been used as a traditional digestive aid following meals.

Plums provide neochlorogenic acid and anthocyanins with documented antioxidant and anti-inflammatory activity consistent with their AHM role in generating fluids, tonifying Yin, and supporting Liver function.

Contraindications

Avoid excess in Spleen deficiency with loose stools or dampness. Sour taste may aggravate gastritis.
