AHM Properties
Persimmon clears heat from the Lung, stops bleeding, brings moisture to dryness, and resolves phlegm-heat. It has a cold and astringent character, making it especially relevant for Lung heat presentations involving cough and blood-tinged sputum. The dried form is warmer and more astringent — better suited to dry throat and lingering chronic cough. Persimmon frost, the white powder that forms on the dried fruit, is traditionally applied directly for oral inflammation and Lung dryness.
Persimmons are rich in betulinic acid, catechins, and gallotannins with documented antioxidant and anti-inflammatory properties consistent with their AHM role in clearing Heat, moistening the Lungs, and nourishing Yin.
Contraindications
