AHM Properties

Known as the Mushroom of Immortality in classical Chinese medicine, reishi — Ling Zhi — is among the most celebrated tonic foods in the tradition. It supports all five organ systems at once, building Qi, Blood, Yin, and Jing while also calming the Heart spirit and strengthening immune defenses. In AHM it is called upon for insomnia, anxiety, immune weakness, persistent fatigue, and as an ongoing longevity food.

Reishi's triterpenes (ganoderic acids) are among the most well-studied anti-inflammatory compounds in medicinal mushrooms, inhibiting COX enzymes and inflammatory cytokines; research also supports analgesic activity, and reishi has a classical AHM role in chronic pain associated with immune dysregulation.

Contraindications

Avoid in bleeding disorders or with blood-thinning medications. Avoid in exterior conditions. Not for daily culinary use — more a therapeutic food.

Clinically authored and reviewed by Dr. Katrina Chojnicki-Hill, DAOM, AP, Dipl. OM. Cross-referenced against American Dragon Herbs and classical AHM sources. For educational purposes only — consult a qualified AHM practitioner for personalised advice.
