AHM Properties
Honey builds Spleen Qi, moistens the Lungs and large intestine, eases pain, and helps neutralize toxins. In both cooking and herbal formulas, it plays a harmonizing role — softening strong flavors and protecting the Stomach. In AHM, classical texts point to honey for dry cough from Lung dryness, constipation from a dried-out bowel, and as a topical aid for wound healing.
Honey contains flavonoids, phenolic acids, and hydrogen peroxide that collectively provide anti-inflammatory and antimicrobial activity, supporting its AHM role in nourishing Lung Yin, clearing Heat, and promoting tissue healing.
Contraindications
Avoid in damp-phlegm conditions, dampness, or in children under 1 year. Avoid in heat patterns — slightly warming raw.
