AHM Properties

Green tea dispels heat and toxins, settles the spirit, encourages urination, supports digestion of fatty foods, and brings mental clarity. It is the most widely used medicinal beverage in Chinese dietary medicine. Its cooling and alerting nature makes it especially fitting in spring and summer, or for those with damp-heat constitutions. The combination of caffeine and L-theanine produces a focused, alert state without the edge of agitation.

EGCG (epigallocatechin gallate) in green tea is one of the most intensively studied anti-inflammatory polyphenols, inhibiting NF-kB signaling and reducing inflammatory cytokines; clinical research supports its role in reducing joint inflammation and arthritis-related pain.

Contraindications

Avoid on an empty stomach, before bed, or in Cold deficient patterns. Reduces iron absorption — separate from meals.
