AHM Properties

Chrysanthemum tea is a well-regarded Liver-clearing drink in AHM practice. It quiets rising Liver Yang, clears eye heat, disperses wind-heat from the upper part of the body, and sharpens vision. It is the classic dietary choice for red, tired, or dry eyes — especially from extended screen time — and for headaches and dizziness driven by ascending Liver Yang.

Chrysanthemum contains luteolin, apigenin, and acacetin — flavonoids with well-documented anti-inflammatory activity; it has a traditional history of use for headache and eye-related pain, supported by its Heat-clearing and Wind-dispersing actions in AHM.

Contraindications

Avoid in Cold patterns or Yang deficiency. Caution in diarrhoea from Cold. Not during pregnancy in large amounts.

Clinically authored and reviewed by Dr. Katrina Chojnicki-Hill, DAOM, AP, Dipl. OM. Cross-referenced against American Dragon Herbs and classical AHM sources. For educational purposes only — consult a qualified AHM practitioner for personalised advice.
