AHM Properties
Black bean calms the Liver, descends Liver Yang, and nourishes Yin to extinguish internal Wind, making it well suited for patterns of Liver Yang Rising with Blood Deficiency that present as dizziness and headaches. It enriches Kidney Yin, reduces deficiency fever, and arrests night sweats in Yin Deficiency with internal Heat. Black bean also clears Heat and relieves toxicity — mashed and applied directly to the skin, it can be used alone for swellings and abscesses. It further functions to clear the brain, dredge Wind-Heat, and ease headache.
Black beans are among the richest legume sources of anthocyanins and quercetin, providing meaningful anti-inflammatory antioxidant activity consistent with their AHM role in tonifying the Kidneys and nourishing Blood.
